Forever KC the Funkaholic
25 years ago, KC the Funkaholic had his first DJ gig. In the years that followed, he saw different music styles come, go, and come back again – but always followed his own taste. A taste that goes above thinking in genres, but is all about selecting the right tracks from the broad spectrum of soul, funk, jazz, house and hiphop music.
KC played basicly everywhere; at the legendary RoXY club, festivals, abroad and Paradiso. But apart from playing music, he’s also the founding father of clubnights like Bassline, Paradisco and Luv Dancin. Plus the Kindred Spirits nights and recordlabel. When it comes to booking artists and giving artists a platform for their first release, he often took risks, simply because he believed in the music.
A few years ago it was KC who got Melodee, Tom Trago and me together to ask if we would like to do the radioshow that is now Future Vintage. He helped us a lot with the first shows, and his knowledge and amazing record collection are still a big inspiration. Thank you KC!
Let’s celebrate 25 years of sharing music this saturday in Trouw, where KC plays all night long and you can show him some love on the dancefloor. More info here.
