After the first hour with new music from London, Brussels and Amsterdam, we welcome our special guest Thomas Martojo from the Dekmantel crew. In 3 years time Dekmantel evolved from small parties at club NL to sold out events at Paradiso, a booking agency and a recordlabel. With a focus on the underground of house, disco and techno, Dekmantel booked a lot of legendary artists such as Moodymann, Maurice Fulton and Rahaan. This friday they host a party with Lil’ Louis from Chicago. Hear more about it in the second hour of the show, when Thomas Martojo, one of Dekmantel’s founders, is playing a strictly vinyl set.

This is a bit overdue, but I think the video interview with Dutch producer Martyn, made by Alex Deforce of On-Point, deserves some extra attention. For a while now, On-Point.tv presents video’s on artists such as Dam Funk, Trus Me and Jose James. In a recent episode, Alex meets with Martyn in his former hometown, Eindhoven. Martyn, who currently lives in Washington DC, talks about how the Philips history influenced the Eindhoven music scene and how different generations shaped the development of techno, drum ‘n bass and dubstep. Martyn himself is influenced by all of these genres. On March 3th Martyn will play at the 5daysoff festival in Paradiso, together with Four Tet, Floating Points, Nosaj Thing and Flying Lotus.
It’s still cold and snowy here, so we thought it was time to warm you up with soothing soul, melancholic songs and dreamy instrumentals. But also some uplifting disco vibes and energetic tracks by Lone and Joy Orbinson. And ofcourse, we can’t forget a little tribute to Willie Mitchell, producer of classic Al Green tracks and much more soul released on Hi-Records.

The LuckyMe family from Scotland, home of artists such as Hudson Mohawke, Rustie & Mike Slott, brings music, art and parties the D.I.Y way. ‘We are here to fuck with genre and sensibility.’ Since 2002 the collective is throwing parties at clubs but also the Glasgow School of Art, where southern hiphop easily blends in with futuristic beats or classic house music.
Now there’s a label, clothing line and also a great collection of mixtapes. The latter is even for free, since you can all download them over here. I really enjoyed the LOVE LOVE mix my friend Mamikoaka Wednesday Nite did recently, and also Dorian Concept added a new mix. With that much quality, I’d recommend to subscribe to the LuckyMe Podcast.
