• Future Vintage

Future Vintage is a radioshow dedicated to discovering the history and future of soul, jazz, hiphop, electronic & psychedelic music, with no boundaries. It’s presented by Radna, Reinier and various guest DJ’s. We broadcast every Tuesday from 8-9PM on Red Light Radio, live from the Amsterdam red light district.

In 2007 Future Vintage was founded by Melodee, Radna, Tom Trago & KC the Funkaholic. Over here you’ll find the best shows from our extensive archive, new podcasts and news & views about the music we like to share with you.

FV 005 – Bright Lit Blue Skies

By Radna · October 25th, 2010, 0:09 · Radio Shows

The selection of this week is pretty all over the place. Some Ariel Pink because I liked his show, some sexy Chicago stuff because we played at a SciFi Porn Party (no joke) where that worked very well, some Darkstar, some Sun Ra, some all time favourites. There’s not that much to tell about, just have a listen.

And if you like this show, make sure to spread the word about it – thank you!

FV 004 – PopWave & Hyperrythm

By Radna · October 18th, 2010, 9:07 · Radio Shows

This week we shine some light on two events during the Amsterdam Dance Event. On Thursday 21st Hyperrythm, with Mike Slott, Oval & Phonophani, takes place in the Bimhuis – also known as Hollands best jazzvenue. Enough reason to broadcast an interview with Mike Slott, recorded at the North Sea Jazz festival earlier this summer, about his relation with jazz and performing in a seated venue. The second half of the show is dedicated to the Pop Wave night featuring Das Ding and Veronica Vasicka (Minimal Wave records). Since I don’t know that much about wave music, my neighbour Colin dropped by and played records. He also wrote a little message for you.

“I spent a lot of my youth in the bath. Especially on Sundays.  I usually bathed (and still do) around 8pm – and that was the time John Peel would grace the airwaves on BBC Radio 1.  He played a lot of shite while at the same time giving me my first music lesson – poetic, ramshackle, fearless, hilarious and altogether magical lessons from a guy who did voiceovers on butter adverts and was older than my dad.  I don’t know if he played any of these records on his show, he might have done. But, this is a dedication to that great man… on a sunday, close to bath time.  I’m feeling a bit teary writing this so i’ll change tact and say that  I’ll see you on the dancing platforms at OT301 this Thursday, when  80’s tape king Das Ding is playing live, supported by Veronica Vasicka (Ed. Compiler of The Minimal Wave Tapes compilation on Stones Throw)!  there, i feel happier already…”

PS. The picture above is a still from Darkstar’s beautiful new video.

FV 003 – Tanzmusik

By Radna · October 11th, 2010, 0:03 · Radio Shows

Sometimes it’s hard to explain in words what Future Vintage is about, but this week we thought it’s actually quite simple. When riding on my bike to work on a mondaymorning (30 minutes forth, 30 minutes back) Future Vintage should be what I like to hear. Nothing more, nothing less. And then I hope a lot of other people will like it too. Although the mic was hissing this week. And the harddisk was full while recording. Oh well, let the music speak for itself.

PS: You can view the Kraftwerk/Detroit documentary I was reffering to over here.

FV 002 – Footsteppin’

By Radna · October 3rd, 2010, 23:35 · Radio Shows

After a heavy weekend, where we enjoyed dancing to Theo Parrish, Virgo Four and the night after Bok Bok & Cosmin TRG, Reinier and Radna still spent the sundaynight recording another episode of Future Vintage Radio.

Thank you for all the nice comments, we’ll work on the set-up a bit and even hope to broadcast live soon. For now, check out another hour of FV, with new music by James Blake, Teen Inc. and Georgia Anne Muldrow.
