Future Vintage is a radioshow dedicated to discovering the history and future of soul, jazz, hiphop, electronic & psychedelic music, with no boundaries. It’s presented by Radna, Reinier and various guest DJ’s. We broadcast every Tuesday from 8-9PM on Red Light Radio, live from the Amsterdam red light district.
In 2007 Future Vintage was founded by Melodee, Radna, Tom Trago & KC the Funkaholic. Over here you’ll find the best shows from our extensive archive, new podcasts and news & views about the music we like to share with you.

Sometimes an hour seems to be ten minutes. That was the case with our latest episode. It’s partly inspired by the journey of Kid Creole and his Coconuts (read the interview about the Fresh Fruit in Foreign Places album over here), passing tropical islands and searching for love. DOWNLOAD

We’ve been late with updating, but no worries, we did some great shows the last 2 weeks. Since Reinier celebrated his anniversary, Radna invited the Ginger Prince of Sharpness back to the Future Vintage studio. He selected an hour of b-sides, private press records with lots of synths and drumcomputers going for it.
It’s a busy week for the Future Vintage crew, not only do we have a show tonight, we’re also part of 2 nice events this week.
Thursday it’s time for Seeing Sounds, Radna’s monthly filmnight about music at de Verdieping / Trouw Amsterdam. This edition is all about African music. With the documentary ‘Music is the Weapon’ about legendary founder of afrobeat, Fela Kuti, but also a focus on modern African dance music from different countries, with videos and music presented by Asheru Al-Haag (L’Afrique Som Systeme / Collect & Curate) and Thomas Gesthuizen (Africanhiphop.com). Febr 17th – 20.00-23.00 – de Verdieping – Wibautstraat 127, Amsterdam – €2,50
Friday it’s time for Future Vintage at the Van Gogh Museum. Radna & Reinier are playing records the whole Friday evening, while you also can check out the brand new Picasso exhibition ‘Picasso in Paris 1900-1907‘, special tours & dance performances. The exhibition shows Picasso discovering the cultural avant-garde in Paris, and we’ll probably play some avant-garde (pop) music from different cities, from the past & present. Febr 18th – 18.30-22.00 – Van Gogh Museum – Paulus Potterstraat 7, Amsterdam – €14,- / Museumkaart = free
We’ll give away tickets for the Van Gogh Fridaynight in our show tonight, so make sure to listen at Red Light Radio from 20.00-21.00!

In case you can’t get enough of our music selection this week, we have good news. The one and only Naldisney asked Radna to make a 10 track selection for his audio section on Nalden.net. For some John Coltrane, Teen Inc., Andre3000 & Gray you know what to do. Press play. That background image is the wonderful Muziekgebouw, behind the scenes we’re all working together on a special programme around the 4 day World Minimal Music Festival – starting March 30th.

It’s nice to get feedback on the show; this week we present you some music shared by Sonny Coates from preAMP_+, who got in touch and made a great alternative version of Major Heavy with Shafiq Husayn. Also longtime listener Jorn e-mailed, about doing a dedication to Egypt. It’s all intertwined in this show somehow, that starts slow and ends with heavy Funkineven beats and chaos in the studio.
PS: Did you already save the dates for next week?
Thursday Febr 17th Radna presents Seeing Sounds in de Verdieping, a filmnight on music, this time with Fela Kuti’s ‘Music is the Weapon’.
Friday Febr 18th Radna & Reinier play Future Vintage style from 18.30-22.00 in the Van Gogh Museum, with a new Picasso exhibition on view. We’re looking forward!

Recently we got in touch with Jules Inkswel, a diverse producer who stayed in Amsterdam for a while, playing at parties like Boogie Bash and Daisy Age, digging records and working on new music. He just got back to Australia, but was so kind to make a mix for us, with both his own productions as personal favourites.
In our last show you could already listen to ‘She Likes Techno’ – that’s coming out on 12″ via the new Boogie Bash label in March. The A side ‘Get To My Party’ even features one of our special listeners Gary Davis. For fresh disco/hiphop/house/funk flavours in the mix, press play!

Yes, we were pretty blown away buy the new Om’Mas Keith record. It was one of our inspirations for this episode, ranging from sweet folk songs to Gucci Mane in a UK flavoured remix. People were listening live from both the OT301 bar as tropical islands – thank you for all the nice feedback. Also, the mix I mention from Jules Inkswel, will be online later today.
