Tonight: FutureVintage x HepcatRadio

By Radna · March 29th, 2011, 13:00 · Radio Shows

Extra extra. Since Mamiko Motto is in town this week, we thought of doing an extra long show together on Red Light Radio. So make sure to tune in tonight for Future Vintage x Hepcat Radio – we are live from 8PM – 10PM (CET). Apart from Mamiko, Radna & Reinier there also will be some special guests (Aardvarck? Steven de Peven? Tom Trago? Who knows who pops up tonight). And after the show, this Tuesday night affair continues at Cafe Belgique.

Thanks to everyone who came out on the dancefloor last Friday, like a friend said, ‘it was night full of many great musical moments’. We won’t forget it. (pictures by Erick Wicaksono)

Friday: FV party @ Toko MC

By Radna · March 20th, 2011, 12:41 · Events

Friday March 25th, for the second time the Future Vintage crew throws an intimate party at Toko MC. We’ll start the night with a live radioshow, to continue on the dancefloor with DJ’s Radna & Reinier and special guest Mamiko Motto (Hepcatradio) from London.  No rules, no boundaries, but a friendly gathering of beautiful swimmers, musiclovers and selectors.

Mamiko Motto (Hepcatradio, London) is a true tastemaker, always on the forefront selecting new sounds for her DJ sets and radio shows. She travelled all over the world, collaborated with Samurai.FM, Dublab, and these days broadcasts live from London under the name of Hepcatradio – where artists like Funkineven, James Pants, Lone and Jackmaster visit her studio.

Radna & Reinier (Future Vintage, Amsterdam) are every week in charge of the Future Vintage radio show at Red Light Radio. But recently they also started DJing togther, having a mutual love for handclaps, steeldrums and do-it-yourself aesthetics.

Toko MC is the brand new bar/restaurant near MC Theater in Westerpark. After the succes of Toko 94 in Rotterdam, now Toko MC brings their modern take on Carribean cuisine & cocktails to Amsterdam.

Don’t be Dutch, and come early! RSVP on Facebook.

21.30 – 22.30 Recording Future Vintage Radio
22.30 – 03.00 DJ’s Mamiko Motto, Radna & Renier

FV 025 – Those Shocking Shaking Days

By Reinier · March 12th, 2011, 14:49 · Radio Shows

We already heard the compilation Those Shocking Shaking Days was about to come out via Now Again, shining light on Indonesian Psych music from the sixties and seventies. Turned out that Chandra Drews, who had a big hand in the liner notes, lives in Amsterdam. Luckily the immaculate Marc from Middlesex knew both of us and hooked us up for this show.

Chandra came in well prepared, and told a lot of interesting things about all the tracks that made it, and didn’t make it to the album. We decided to let the music speak most of the time, and recommend getting the physical release which comes with a thick booklet full of history, to dive deeper into this interesting era in Indonesian music.

For the first half hour Radna and I were in that electronic slow vibe (we’re in a lot lately…), with new tracks by Antony Valadez, Hype Williams, Asura (which you can download here), Teebs and more.

Oh, and check Jakarta based Whiteboard Journal for regular updates by our man Chandra, amongst others.

FV 024 – All Night Affair

By Reinier · March 6th, 2011, 23:37 · Radio Shows

Yes, you don’t hear me a lot on the shows, but it’s Reinier picking up the blogging. Rightly so, since my birthday was the reason for adding a second hour to the show. 2 hours like we used to do a year back.

Being born on februari 29, people congratulate you on the 28th and on the first of march, making it all a longer affair then usual, let alone not having a birthday at all.

Last week sure was a birthday, with a crowded studio and a mic that began to attract more people as the show continued. The playlist consists of recent classics like Everything, classics from my childhood like the opening track, some presents I got during the show like Frankie Bones & Lenny Deb, finished off with some favorites from Radna, the crowd and myself. Enjoy.
