Future Vintage is a radioshow dedicated to discovering the history and future of soul, jazz, hiphop, electronic & psychedelic music, with no boundaries. It’s presented by Radna, Reinier and various guest DJ’s. We broadcast every Tuesday from 8-9PM on Red Light Radio, live from the Amsterdam red light district.
In 2007 Future Vintage was founded by Melodee, Radna, Tom Trago & KC the Funkaholic. Over here you’ll find the best shows from our extensive archive, new podcasts and news & views about the music we like to share with you.

I was painting all day to the selection we made for this show. Radna felt like playing some more funky stuff as a little counter reaction to all the computer quantized tracks on the web right now. And I can say our selection aged every brush of paint I put down. That’s true arbeidsvitaminen for you, only on Red Light Radio.
So I put the volume up a notch in the studio, we watched the rain poor down on the red light district, danced a little and laughed a bit to tunes of usual suspects like Inc., Sa-Ra and Theo Parrish, but also expect quality jazz, Funkadelic, and tracks by Future Vintage friends Vin Sol & Charles McCloud, and AbJo.

I was really happy Radna was back. You see, without her we would never have started with Ram On. And without the great Real Scenes Detroit documentary by Resident Advisor I would never have followed it with Kyle Hall. And without good promo’s that wouldn’t have been followed by the new Fatima and Lunice EP’s. Making these shows is all about cross references and chemistry. And listeners play a big role in that too, so if you got music to share, don’t hesitate to come trough. And if you want to share your thoughts on the show you can comment or chat in the Facebook chat function on the Red Light Radio website. Finally, live dj’ing is most fun, Radna gets behind the decks some more, we stop talking and we go a little more up tempo with it. We’ll keep you posted on new gigs as soon as we know .

Last week I had Chandra Drews over again, who earlier did a special on Indonesian Psych for us. This time his mix focussed on some new music coming from Indonesia, something he’s become a flag bearer for since he returned from his honeymoon trip. The mixes he made recently caught my ear, and I invited him to do one for us. It’s an exciting scene, and it’s lovely to hear some artists and music that’s completely new for me. Like Space System, that’s featured a few times in his mix. We hope you like it too.
In the first half hour there’s the usual FV blend, this time consisting of the new Hudson Mohawke and Azari & III amongst a few others.

It’s becoming a habit to post a new show every Monday. Just a day before we record a new show, but also on the first day of the week. I heard quite a few times people like to listen FV while working or studying. So here you go, new ammo for the workweek.
The show starts easy with Malinese music and a rerun of Krystal Klear’s Champagne Coast remix (it’s maybe even a little shy since I’m not much of a talker on the radio), but somewhere halfway it shifts gear, to stay there. Funny my presence changes as well. In the future I will keep my mouth shut, unless there’s testosterone involved .

Never strangers to a little tropical twist in our sets, this show takes it to West Africa, Guinean rivers and Champagne Coasts. But we start with some grieving soul by Amy Winehouse (of whom this beautiful photo can be seen at Out of Storage in Maastricht at the moment) and we couldn’t deny the new classic Otis by Jay-Z & Kanye West too. All together a pretty decent al over the place episode again (if we might say so ourselves).
