Show 12 – Preview North Sea Jazz ‘10
By Radna · July 7th, 2010, 16:48 · Radio Shows

Like every year, we get in the mood for the North Sea Jazz Festival by making a preview show. We built a little studio in Radna’s livingroom, and had a cup of tea while playing some of the highlights of the festival. Friday will be hectic, since our friends from Viral Radio programmed a stage called Hyperrhythm, featuring Mike Slott, Dorian Concept, Hudson Mohawke and Dimlite. But at the same night there’s also Shafiq Husayn, Gil Scott Heron and José James. What to do? And what to do with the worldcup finals Sunday? Hopefully we can celebrate Dutch victory with Stevie Wonder, and otherwise I’m sure his music will console us.

Show 10 – One hour world journey
By Radna · March 30th, 2010, 21:36 · Radio Shows

We were a bit on the downlow the last few days, but here’s show number 10. Have to excuse for the dusty sound (we did our best to recover it), but we hope you love the selection of songs. With new and old funk in the first hour, raspy singing by D’Angelo and Gonjasufi, a certain song we weren’t allowed to play, and a special guest DJ in the second hour. Jorn Konijn has been a regular Future Vintage listener since the beginning, and is also a collector of Brasilian, African and Indian music. He’s quite a traveller, and because we look so much forward to some warmer temperatures, he takes us on a one hour world journey in the 2nd hour. From the catchy sounds of Ghana to Indian wedding music, come aboard and listen.

Show 9 – Can’t get used to those
By Radna · March 15th, 2010, 17:22 · Radio Shows

You don’t have to wait for 2 weeks, here’s another Future Vintage. Just before Melodee left to South by Southwest, we had lots of fun recording this show, with Reinier selecting a blend of old and new music in the first hour, and Mark Cremins playing in the second. Mark is part of the Rush Hour family, but also the man behind Conky records and many lovely events in Amsterdam, such as the Pop/Wave party where James Pants recently played. If you’re reading this on monday: tonight Mark is playing at Cafe Belgique, where Freschard is performing at 9PM. It was quite an eclectic show, just like we love, check the playlist, and tune in!

Show 7 – preview 5 days off
By Radna · February 22nd, 2010, 21:22 · Radio Shows

The studio is working again! Because the annual 5 days off festival is around the corner, we already played some favourites by artists that will perform in Amsterdam, such as MF Doom, Floating Points and Linkwood. But first we’re looking forward to Disco3000 feat. Theo Parrish, IF and Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir this Friday. You can even win 2 tickets for that, if you e-mail the correct answer to our improvised question before Thursday. We’re not talking much, Melodee is still on holiday, so it’s just Radna & Reinier playing proper music, future vintage style.
PS: as promised in the show, a link to more music by Baths.

New music by American Men, Jose James, Dimlite and Erykah Badu – it’s all in this show that alsmost didn’t happen. Arriving at the studio we found out the server exploded (!) and all the equipment has to be fixed. So we postponed our special guest for a later show, but to didn’t leave you empty-handed, we still made a one hour Future Vintage selection. No Melodee (she’s on holiday), no good mic (it’s Radna who speaks in her crackling laptop after just waking up), but simply great music (thanks Reinier). So, tune in!

Show 3 – going out with a bang
By Radna · December 28th, 2009, 21:24 · Radio Shows

We decided to celebrate the end of 2009 with a little party in our new cosy studio. Recorded on Christmas Eve (with some wine, cheese and kerstkransjes) 4 DJ’s got carte blanche to play their favourite songs of 2009, obscure christmas songs and even their own productions. First up is INT, producer of La Melodia, who’s also working on solo-projects and presents you a Christmas Wonderland. Second DJ playing is Reinier, the newest member of the Future Vintage family. Our third guest is Job de Wit, allround music journalist, former VPRO radio host and now also a club DJ, who’s specialised in disco music. Number four is Tom Trago, the original DJ of Future Vintage from 2007, who released his first solo album Voyage Direct last year. So there you have it: 2 hours of beats, disco, soul, jazz, & funk selected by four tastemakers. Happy new year!
