I believe in the power of connection.
In college, I fell into the addictive habit of hosting coffee dates with two or more people. Why? Because I didn’t want to just connect with one person … I wanted to connect multiple people at once.
It’s my passion for bringing talented people together which inspired me to host my first event at the Etsy Labs on Wednesday, July 17th.
The networking and instructional event, “SEO for Etsy Sellers,” was attended by 17 members of the NYC Vintage Sellers Team on Etsy, which I co-founded with Simone Hine of Erstwhile Style.
I have a dream that in cities across the country, Etsy sellers like you will organize your own vintage sellers teams so that sellers in your community have a space to meet, greet, inspire and collaborate with one another. Because as all sellers know, it can take an army to understand the nuances of operating a business online – not to mention one as competitive and saturated as the secondhand fashion market.
The cliche is true – there’s strength in numbers. And I’m happy to report that Wednesday’s event was just the beginning of the collaborative unity we can all work together to create as #vintagelovers, sellers and female entrepreneurs on this planet.

The Etsy Labs

Known as the “Etsy Labs,” this space is available for anyone in NYC involved with the Etsy community to participate in Etsy-led events, oftentimes revolving around a craft-focused project or instructional seminar. If you are a team leader on Etsy, you can connect with Etsy admin to host a meet-up here, too! The Etsy Labs are located on the 7th floor, while the Etsy HQ are located on the 5th floor.

The SEO for Vintage Sellers Seminar
For the instructional portion of the evening, I led a seminar based on my SEO for Vintage Sellers Smackdown course, available for purchase on Pop Expert.
Taking time to learn the secrets of SEO increases traffic to your Etsy shop, encourages greater engagement with your shop (in my words: people “stay to play” and explore various shop sections) and better positions you to reap the rewards of increased hearts, favorites and social media follows/likes.
Because at the end of the day, Etsy sellers need increased traffic to their shops to increase the odds of sales!
