My New Haircut!

by Sammy 1 Comment

I’m not the type of girl who gets a haircut every six to eight weeks.

I’ve NEVER been that type of girl. And I hate to all-caps NEVER as if the girls who DO get their hair trimmed and pampered and prettied religiously deserve to be mocked. I mean … I’m not mocking but, I sure ain’t jockin’, either …

But that’s my personal platform. I like to cut my hair short. Let it grow long. Cut it in some different, nothing-Sammy-has-ever-had-before style. It’s an addiction. And it’s an addiction that happens approximately every three months. I guess you could call it a seasonal addiction.

So, while everyone else is spending upwards of $80 for their snip snip snip, I’m waiting three months and getting mine done for less than half the price.

Like Tuesday, for example. I woke up. I looked at myself in the mirror. And I said: “Today, Sammy, it’s time for a haircut.”

Maybe that’s what boys do? You guys just take a look in the mirror, decide it’s not gonna do that day, and walk into your neighborhood barber for a 15 minute clean-up?

Don’t call me a guy [oh wait, it’s been done before], but I think I’m channeling the “Sam” from the “Sammy” with my haircut habits.

OK, I’m shutting up now. But if you want to hear more … yeah, I talk about it more. Watch the video HERE.

THE LOOK: Shaggy Hair = Shaggy Dress

THE DRESS: H&M, circa ‘08, worn for NYE

THE EARRINGS: I’ve recently fallen back in love with these, although for a time I never worn ‘em. I can’t even remember where they are from.

THE NECKLACE: Express, circa ‘01 or ‘02. One of those necklaces that will undoubtedly get a compliment.

THE BRACELET: Gifted consignment from my girl, Kaitlyn D!

THE BELT: Gifted consignment, thanks to Sabrina over at A New Mode [I cleaned out her closet!]

THE BROACH: Thanks to Mama D!

THE FISHNETS: Marshals

THE SHOES: Rampage, Marshals. Funny thing: Good friend & founder of Market Publique squealed when she saw them, thinking they were Marc by Marc Jacobs. Um …. no? Can you say … rip-offs?!?!

The front is the same as the back. Amazing.

Tassles, tassles, everywhere!

The belt was a bit too long. So to solve the problem, I used a broach to clasp the loose end of the belt to its other half. Problem solved, waist … created.

Oh baby. Just LOOK at that hair!

Sitting in the chair of a cheap [and I mean, to the tune of $30 cheap] UWS hair salon, right before I went under the scissors. Thanks, Mariela!

The inspiration for my hair. How’d I find this? Google: “Short celebrity haircuts.” BANG.

After! My short celebrity haircut … LIVE! What do you think?
