HAPPY GRATEFULNESS FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!!
YEE HAW!!!!! I’m so happy to announce the FOURTH official gratefulness Friday giveaway on Sammy Davis Vintage for two specific reasons: First, over the past few weeks I have had the blessings to meet SUCH amazing vintage lovers and thrift warriors on the Sammy Davis Vintage fan page.
I’ve shed tears of joy because I see just how enthusiastic and knowledgeable everyone is on styling vintage and shopping thrift. Everyday I learn something new from you and for THAT alone, I am FOREVER grateful!
Second, I am REALLY stoked to announce today’s giveaway because it’s the first of many contests I hope to do with online vintage fashion stores.
No matter where you live — whether it be in NYC’s trendy Lower East Side or a small town in Wisconsin or seaside in Santa Monica, California! — you can find fabulous pieces of vintage fashion for you from a plethora of online sellers available at your fingertips thanks to sites like Etsy, Market Publique, Ebay, Sense of Fashion and independent vintage store’s sites, too.
I teamed up with Lady Jane Vintage for today’s AWESOME giveaway … and really guys, this giveaway is a gold mine!
I asked her to choose pieces totaling $50 for the prize pack of vintage pieces she was willing to part ways with and give a happy home with one of you. Well, it turns out Miss Lady Jane had too much fun putting together her prize pack — because I swear to you, this win is worth a lot more than $50!
Keep reading after the jump to see what you can win by answering today’s Gratefulness Giveaway question in the comments below, and to read my gratefulnes story of the week on perceiving each moment with gratitude and seeing beautiful abundance in the unexpected and the small!
The one thing that I DO know is NOT unexpected nor small — channeling your creativity through vintage fashion, which is ALWAYS a confidence-booster and all-around-positive thing. I’m sure you can all agree that a new vintage dress or purse can feel as good as buying something designer or getting a great piece on sale!
There’s just such personal euphoria around wearing vintage fashion, and I’m so happy that you are all going to enter today’s giveaway for a chance to win the Lady Jane Vintage prize pack below!
Hope you all have AMAZING weekends! I’m celebrating Easter with family in my hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and of course … hitting up my favorite hometown thrift spots and vintage stores ;-)
What are you ladies up to? Let me know on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and plain ‘ole fashioned EMAIL!
With gratefulness and gratitude for YOU!

I AM GRATEFUL FOR … MY PENNIES!
Meet my new best friend above: An ABUNDANCE JAR.
This jar was once a jam jar, and the pennies inside? They were once pennies lonely and lost on the streets on New York City.
We all have moments of feeling like we don’t have enough or that we’re not good enough. We compare ourselves to others — to what they own, what they’re doing, who they’re with, how they look and how we think they “feel” about their lives.
We convince ourselves that in comparison to others around us, we aren’t “enough” and should work harder to reach that “enough point.”
I’ve decided to DECIDE that everything in my life is enough, and that the small & unexpected are filled with the same abundance of having more than enough.
I’m channeling this new perspective in many ways, one of which is by placing pennies I find on the ground in my “abundance jar.” When moving and grooving through the busy-ness of life, we forget to notice the beauty in the small … because we are hurriedly moving past it!
By taking the time to look for beauty with the faith that it is there, we will see that everything in our lives is more than just good enough for us … it’s PERFECT for us.
Every penny I find on the ground is a moment of abundance, because **I** was the one to see it, take note and then stop to pick it up from the ground. It may just be a penny, but it represents that opportunity for abundance is in our lives in small and unexpected ways.
We don’t have to move through life quickly and rushed trying to “be enough.” We are enough just as we are right now, and our lives will always be filled with abundance because they are filled with the beauty of the small and the unexpected that is meant for us alone.
I can’t wait to show you all how my abundance jar fills with the many blessings of the small over the next few weeks. I have a feeling those blessings are going to add up quickly — as I move slower in order to see them and to feel grateful for their natural place in my life.

What a CUTE prize pack “salivating” LOL! My favorite vintage piece I own has to be a blue tulle formal strapless dress that my Grandmother wore in the 40’s.I have pictures of me wearing it. Its one of those prized heirloom items that will be handed down to my daughters. And I do totally get that rush when I find/thrift a fabulous rare vintage dress/bag/hat ect. Its like finding a diamond in the sand! **GRATEFUL** today and everyday ;-)

Awesome summer prize pack! My favorite vintage piece that I use ALL the time is a pair of simple patent Ferragamo flats. They’re black with a tiny bit of golden trim, and they’re perfect flats for the office or a night out. I can be comfortable AND in style, oh my.

Hmm, let’s see…I’m currently wearing this 60s lace dress that I *think* might be either a swimsuit cover up, or some kind of lingerie cover-up. It hits to my knees, is A-line, is completely see through, and is open in the back with tiny white bows that I can tie to close! I am wearing a tube dress under it at work…I feel lovely and ethereal.
THANK YOU Sammmy D and THANK YOU Lady Jane vintage for the chance to win an outstanding prize pack! Adore those shirts particularly.
Samantha :)

My favorite piece is from my vintage dress collection. Ok it only consists of 3 dresses right now but I’m working on it! It is a 60’s garden party dress with beautiful greens and blues and a full pleated skirt. I styled it with white gloves for a photoshoot once and it was so elegant!

I would have to say my favorite vintage piece is the lovely, custom-made winter wool coat I purchased from Dandelion Vintage last year. It was custom-made for a woman (her name is even on a label inside the coat) from a tailor in Hong Kong. Carol even included the original ticket price ($125.00 in 1969) that was in the pocket of the coat. It is by far the warmest coat I have ever owned. Besides the fact that it fits me perfectly — the best thing is that including shipping, it only cost me $32!

My favorite vintage piece is a piece of costume jewelry that was my grandma’s from the 60s. It is a necklace that has a broach that can be worn on the necklace or taken off and worn as a pin. I absolutely love wearing it because it is a one and only that is the best thing about vintage! Also, it makes me think of my Gramma :)

I don’t know if you specifically planned this GRATEFULNESS entry for today or not — but I personally think it is PERFECT for Easter weekend!
When talking about whether we are “enough” — I think that it is easy to see others around us and want to be like them or have the things that they have — it is easy to feel that we are not “measuring up” …
This weekend is the PERFECT weekend to realize that God sent His son to die for us(each one of us!) because …. WE ARE ENOUGH!
Well done, Sammy D! Happy Easter! (enjoy your time with your family)

My favorite piece of vintage clothing is my 1970’s maxi dress. I found it at a local Goodwill, where vintage dresses are few and far between. It is black with a white design on it and I can’t wait to wear it this summer with an oversized white floppy hat and relax by the lake. Come on Midwest–bring on some warm weather!!!
Hope you have a great weekend too!

Love this idea. Right now, my favorite vintage-ness is some jewelry I brought home from when I was back in Missouri. My parents, who are antique dealers, let me dig through bags and bags of jewelry (flapper beads, mainly) and take anything I wanted.
Lovely pieces that I brought home, and even more lovely because it’s a nice reminder of spending time with my mom and dad while we played jewelry.

I have a few wonderful vintage pieces … but one of the most original and fun things I have is my black denim jacket from the 4th grade … it’s a NKOTB jacket made with puffy paint!!!!!
Wanna see?????
