Hello and happy GRATEFULNESS GIVEAWAY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!!
Not that I don’t love everyday of the week (and honestly, reading back over these blog posts I definitely show some exuberance for the EVERY day!) but like most of you probably agree, Friday is always a breath of fresh air because we know that R&R from the cycle of sleep-eat-work is on the horizon for the week”end”!
Here at Sammy Davis Vintage I especially love Fridays because as I’ve been doing since my first giveaway of my Grandmother’s vintage costume jewelry in March, I’ve been able to parlay an idea of “gratefulness” into my post that not only thanks you for being such an amazing reader & supporter with the chance to win some sweet vintage, but also allows me to write about a personal story that inspired me to feel “grateful” during the week.
This week’s Gratefulness Friday Giveaway host is my dear friend and inspiration Victory Vintage, an amazing vintage shop on Ebay (if you visit her store, you’ll see that she’s sold nearly 4,000 pieces!) who lives and curates her collection from the beauty that is Central Arkansas.

Because with the attitude that your life is full of blessings, you can look forward to even the most difficult, or seemingly mundane activities in your life.

I AM GRATEFUL FOR … CELEBRATION OF OTHERS!
I’ve had a FANTASTIC week — and not because anything particularly fantastic has happened to ME, but rather, to the amazing, inspiring individuals around me.
One of the life lessons that I enjoy reminding myself to embrace is the act of always celebrating others first.
My week has been fantastic because I’ve been able to celebrate the success of my roommate’s personal & entrepreneurial growth through his website on all things Broadway behind-the-scenes interviews & show reviews, STAGE RUSH.
The picture above (top) show my roommate and I at a restaurant in NYC nearly 5 years ago, when we had our first bonafide internship working at a magazine in New York City.
We were only 20 years old. The world was our oyster! And we were becoming fast friends who always celebrated the accomplishments of one another to also inspire ourselves.
Flash forward 5 years (bottom picture) and we’re now living & working on our entrepreneurial pursuits in New York City. We’re celebrating our 3-year anniversary as Manhattan roommates at the end of the summer … but most importantly, we celebrate the gratefulness of the everyday together as go-getter individuals who want to share their passions with the world.
I share my passion with you on vintage & thrift, and Jesse shares his passion on Broadway & theatre.
This week, Jesse launched a new component of his web site: a regular meet-up of NYC Broadway theatre enthusiasts to meet & greet one another and to celebrate their shared interests and how it brings them together.
This time last year, Jesse admitted to me that he would NEVER have thought he’d be planning Broadway fan MEET UPS! But here he is, a “director” of sorts to help his followers connect with him, connect with each other and connect with what gives them happiness on this earth now.
Jesse is such an inspiration to me. From managing Stage Rush daily, filming episodes for Stage Rush” TV and now hosting in-the-flesh meet & greets around theatre, he is a friend, confidant and encourager who walked into my life nearly 5 years ago and I hope never, ever walks out!
As we celebrate those in our lives, we celebrate ourselves — because we are all connected! Without my roommate’s passion for what he does, and without the passion for what I do … we would not be such beautifully perfect places in our lives right now.
Remember that the person beside you — stranger or not — is a pillar of strength in your life when you remember to celebrate the talents unique to them.
As you see the beauty in everyone around you, they see the beauty in YOU … and the circle of gratefulness, as fueled by continuous celebration, will never, EVER stop turning.
I celebrate you all today because you celebrate me!

I love to take Lola (My Gorgeous Dog)into the park or the hudson river park and sit with her to bead my necklaces or to do my arts and crafts. She is my great inspiration and the spring time weather is perfect for us to sit and enjoy outside.
I love working in the garden, or camping :) Both things I do with my family, and it’s always a ton of fun :)

I love the spring, its my second favorite season! I just went biking yesterday with my boyfriend, and it was really fun to see all the spring flowers around! That is definitely one of my favorite spring activities, but most importantly my favorite favorite favorite is spring fashion and building new spring outfits! Lots of colors, dresses, and lace for this summer are my go to staples! Great prize pack, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on some of Brande’s finds!

“Runway Inspiration, Vintage Decoration”
I enjoy going to all the tag sales and finding new items to decorate with and meeting some of the other people while I’m looking for ideas.
It’s not spring until we take our two doggies to the local drive-in for the first hot dogs of th season. The root beer is also swell.
My FAVORITE spring activity is planting flowers with my mom! She is always so happy working in the yard with her flowers, which makes me happy. Happy Spring!!!
Oh man! Springtime is right around my birthday, but my favorite thing to do in Spring (or any time really, but I used to do it on my Spring break a lot) is go road-tripping and camping with all my lovely friends! It is absolutely the best thing to do in such wonderful weather. (:
Spring time! My favorite! I really love walking this special time of year. I take my bike out and carry along my camera for snapshots of birds, leaves, and even random passer byers.
My favorite activity is to blow on dandelions. Even though i have seasonal allergies, i just can’t help but bend down and pluck a dandelion if i see one on the curb. It feels so magical just blowing on it and watch the pollen float ever so gently away. It’s kind of nostalgic too; it reminds me of the times my mom and I would walk home together after school when i was in elementary. Even now, i still close my eyes and think of a wish before i blow on it.
Spring can make us all feel like children. Seeing those first blooms popping up and smelling the first cut grass of the season. These are my favorite spring activities.

My favorite activity is taking my dogs to my favorite coffee shop Park Grounds, which is also a dog park, and reading a book in the sun.
My favorite springtime activity is…enjoying a outdoors BBQ with family and friends. Nothing beats food, family and friends…well maybe winning this vitage giveaway. =)
