Happy Monday everyone!!!
Wow, what a GREAT day today is for all of you!!! Spring is fast approaching, which means opening those storage bins and closets to switch from winter to spring wardrobes. I’m feeling very thankful for the change in weather, style AND some great pictures of inspiration included in today’s post from vintage lovers like YOU!
Last week I was interviewed by the USA Today Green Magazine for a feature on vintage fashion as a sustainable source of style. Wearing vintage doesn’t only gain you awesome bonus points toward your personal style cred — it is the easiest way for fashion-lovers to help the environment by investing in pre-existing merchandise through the purchasing power of vintage & second-hand.
I reached out to some of my favorite vintage lovers on the Sammy Davis Vintage Facebook fan page to request photos of you wearing vintage for possible consideration in the magazine spread. I received SUCH positive feedback and submissions, and I wanted to use this post to specifically thank Brande, Vicki, Robin, Sheridan & Robin for their help!
Also, HUGE thanks to Dawn, who took the time to submit photos, however I was unable to find them! [oy vey the Internet!]
So, without further ado, keep reading after the jump for some seriously gorgeous vintage outfits that will have you skipping to your nearest vintage boutique for a seasonally spring look. Or, check out my Shop Finds page to purchase a new piece — as recommended by me! — from the convenience of your [not-so-vintage] keyboard.
Today’s post carries an even more significant weight than just style kudos to some of my favorite vintage & thrift store style comrades … it carries the GAIN of GRATITUDE.
One of my favorite new authors, runner & inspirational mom-strong woman-authentic spirit Kristin Armstrong wrote this in her new book, Mile Markers.
“When our starting point is a place of gratitude, we have already won before we begun.”
This post is dedicated to everyone who visits this site, tweets on Twitter, likes on Facebook, and watches on YouTube. It is also dedicated to those who wear vintage and spread style peace, no matter the web sites or other social media outlets you engage in!
Thank you being a part of this community, and for submitting your inspirational pictures to the blog! Share the inspiration anytime by emailing a picture to me, [email protected]
Why be original, when you can be vintage?

BRANDE!
WHERE: Austin, Arkansas
STYLE CRED: Vintage curator & seller, Vintage Victory Boutique. Fan her page on Facebook, too!
STYLE INSPIRATION: Floppy hats for spring & touches of girlie-girl with delicate hand bags & clutches!
VICKI!
WHO: Vicki
WHERE: Grand Rapids, Minnesota
STYLE CRED: Curator/seller of Nostalgic Vintage Clothing. [like on Facebook!] Vicki was BRAVE enough to share her bonafide vintage photos with me, circa 1980s! To the left is a picture of Vicki pretty-in-pre-prom-pink. To the right, her jazzy hairsprayed ‘do!
STYLE INSPIRATION: Big sleeves, when worn appropriately, are oh-so-chic! Think Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink — a touch of shoulder “oomph” can work wonders for presence & posture [since you don’t want to be weighed down by those sleeves: shoulders back!]
ROBIN!
WHO: Robin
WHERE: Weehacken, New Jersey
STYLE CRED: Founder of Thrifty Vintage Chic [like on Facebook!] and vintage seller on Etsy.
STYLE INSPIRATION: Fellow ’80s baby Robin was born about 40 years too LATE! She rocks contemporary ’40s style like no other, channeling the era with newsboy hats, pleated pants, calf-length skirts, ankle socks and hair fasteners. Robin shows that you can look like a sexy lady without exposing too much skin or wearing body-hugging clothing.
SHERIDAN!
WHO: Sheridan
WHERE: Athens, Georgia
STYLE CRED: Owner of Gigworn Vintage & Thrift Store [like Gigworn on Facebook!]
STYLE INSPIRATION: Gigworn is for the rocker-influenced of the rock & roll inclined town of Athens, Georgia [read: hometown of B52s & REM!]. She’s got a rocker-girl edge [note the guitar, left!]. Wear a band shirt with a leather skirt and fishnets — add a blazer, letting some guitar riffs shine from below without being too — dare I say it? — LOUD!
SANDRA & HER DAUGHTER MEGAN
WHO: Sandra & her 15-year-old daughter Megan
WHERE: Ontario, Canada
STYLE CRED: Curator/seller of The Witchery Vintage [like on Facebook!]
STYLE INSPIRATION: A little bit witch, a little bit wild, and a whole lotta vintage love: Sandra’s attention to vintage style shows as she influences not only vintage lovers existing & new, but a future generation of vintageistas, like her daughter, Megan! Share your passions with others and the giving will pay itself back to you!
