The 90s are back – Even in your bedroom!

by Nicole Leave a Comment

There is no escaping the 90s craze that is sweeping the nation. When you walk into almost any store that sells candy you’ll see some old favorites that haven’t been easily found in years – 5th Avenue candy bars, Big League Chew, and Laffy Taffy, just to name a few. Clothing and department stores are filled with outfits that could have come from a 90s Teen Beat. Movies are being rebooted or updated for today’s world. Our favorite singers, bands, and actors seem to be coming out of the woodwork.

Interior design has not escaped these trends. The 90s bedroom is all the rage, and those who had furniture like wicker or canopied beds in their youth are looking to recapture that feeling by purchasing vintage replicas of the 90s furniture they loved.

The bedroom is often the first room in a home to be redecorated, especially if you are unsure about the reaction to your interior design choices. If you want to start small and get a feel for the style, the bedroom is a great place to start. If you share a home with others, decorating your bedroom with 90s bed furniture may be your only chance to let that side of you shine.

You can find the best bed for your 90s bedroom at 1stopbedrooms.com/bedroom/beds where you can get deals from 1StopBedrooms. In the meantime, here are the 90s styles coming back to look for when choosing your new bed.

Canopy beds are a must

Canopy beds were extremely popular among teenage girls in the 90s. The beds were often frilly or elaborate, with gauzy fabric tied across the canopy frame. Today’s canopy beds are much more versatile, and people of all genders and ages are enjoying this bed style. In true 90s fashion, most of the canopy beds available today are made of black metal or blonde/light woods.

Pastel colors make the best canopies

The 90s brought soft pastels back into fashion, and although the shades of blush, mint green, lilac, or robin’s egg blue may be called by other names today, they are still prominent in dressing a canopy bed. You can use a combination of pastels for the bedding, throw pillows, and canopy for a comforting feel.

Colorfully painted walls

It was in the 90s that society first truly embraced colorful walls. After fighting with old wallpaper during home renovations, the homeowners of the 90s were no longer interested in those types of wall coverings. Instead, they went with colorful or boldly painted walls to offset the other colors in the room. A hunter green, glossy royal blue, or sky-blue clouds are all great options.

Wicker bedroom accessories

Wicker was also really popular in the 90s, although this type of furniture has been around for at least 3,000 years. (The oldest intact wicker furniture was found in the tomb of King Tut.) Although you may not want a wicker for your bed, you can still decorate your bedroom with some wicker nightstands or accent chairs. If you have a patio or balcony accessible from your bedroom, you should also consider furnishing it with all-season wicker furniture.
